Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why don't the Print - HTML Layout feature, More Information About Data button, or links to other websites (from InfoTips) work?
Three are three possible sources for these problems.
If your computer has pop-up blocking software installed, it needs to allow pop-ups from www.mdmerlin.net and atlas.mdmerlin.net. Note that Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP usually includes a pop-up blocker, which needs to be configured to work with MERLIN Online. MERLIN Online does not serve ads, but the site uses pop-up windows for enhanced map browsing and a more functional interface.
This problem will occur if you have visited other websites while viewing the MERLIN Online maps. When you are viewing maps in MERLIN, you'll actually have two "MERLIN Online" windows open. If running Windows, you can see this by looking at the open programs on your taskbar after starting the MERLIN Online map browser. One of these windows is your web browser, which will show a page stating "please be patient as TNTclient is loaded..." The other window is the TNTclient map browser, for viewing the maps in MERLIN Online. If you have opened the web browser window and changed the page (from "please be patient..."), these functions will have stopped working. To prevent this error, open a new web browser window to visit other sites while viewing maps in MERLIN Online. Simply start your web browser the same way you normally would, which will open a new web browser window at your normal home page.
The Java Virtual Machine may be causing these problems. See Question 2 of the FAQ for more details.
