Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why do the pictures have such bad resolution when I zoom in?
The MERLIN Online system has several base maps that are suitable for viewing at different sizes. If you are viewing photographic base maps (and not the street map), you'll want to turn on more detailed photography as you zoom in. Groups (that contain photographic base layers) with "1m" (meaning 1 meter) in the name are more detailed than groups with "10m" in the name. Likewise, groups with "10m" in the name are more detailed than those with "30m" in the name. The less detailed photography is suitable for viewing large areas, while the more detailed groups are more suitable for neighborhoods and other small areas.
