Pop-Up Blocker in Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Serivce Pack 2 includes a pop-up blocker that will prevent MERLIN Online from working. MERLIN Online does not serve ads to you, but pop-ups are used to enhance the map browser tools. In order for MERLIN to work, follow these steps to change the pop-up blocker settings in Internet Explorer 6.

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Open the Tools menu, then choose Internet Options.
3. Click the Privacy Tab.
4. There is a Pop-up Blocker section near the bottom of the Window. Click the Settings button.
5. Type *.mdmerlin.net in the Address of website to allow text box. Click the Add button. That entry should now appear in the Allowed sites box.
6. Click the Close button.
7. Click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.

You can optionally uncheck the Block pop-ups setting in step 4, then skip steps 5 and 6. This is not recommended, as it will allow pop-ups from any website.
