Links to Other Web Sites

Where appropriate, links from specific data layers can be made to other web sites for additional information. For example, within the Cultural Layers folder is a layer named National Register of Historic Places. Using the InfoTips tool and clicking on a specific historic place (such as identified by the yellow arrow) provides the user with the opportunity to view more information about that particular historic place.

The user selects the web site from the pick list (there may be more than one web site to choose from depending on the area being viewed). Once the correct web site has been selected, click the "Go " button.

MERLIN opens another web browser window, goes to the Maryland Historic Trusts's web site of National Inventory of Historic Places and automatically selects the entry for the historic place selected in MERLIN.
